New Boiler Installations in Plymouth, South West Devon & Cornwall
If your boiler is over ten years old it could wee be costing you a lot more to run than you think as old boilers waste a considerable amount of costly energy making heating not very cost efficient. New regulations now insist that if all new gas fired boiler is installed must be of a condensing design boiler. An old boiler will only exchange approximately 60% of the energy they demand into actual heat. This can drastically affect you quarterly energy bills and is not ideal for the environment either.
We have a team of experienced engineers who specialise in installing new condensing boilers along with renewable energy products from a number of the top range leading manufactures such as Worcester Bosch or Vaillant. New modern boilers use the latest technology available to increase efficiency up past 90% meaning you would make a saving of around 30% par annum on your home energy bills. Just think of the saving that could add up to over the whole lifetime of the boiler.
Depending on the situation of your properties water supply, flow and demand there are three different choices of condensing boilers to choose from. If you’re thinking of renewing your old boiler then please don’t hesitate to phone us where one of our team will be happy to help you. We can make an appointment and perform a tailor made survey so as we can diagnose exactly what type of condensing boiler will be suitable for you and your families needs. Roughly what can I save?
When you turn your boiler on to heat your home the meter starts fizzing round and round and round. Its important to limit the amount of fizz back to save you money. You home alone just to heat usually account for around 60% of your annual bills so by having a more efficient energy saving boiler fitted you may well see a saving of over £300 per annum in your energy bill. That’s a lot less fizz to the meter. All new boilers installed by Acorn Plumbing & Heating (APH) are (A) efficiency rated making them over 90% efficient. When you compare this to an old (G) efficiency rated boiler putting out around 70% efficiency the calculations concluded are quite shocking. 30 PENCE IS WASTED FOR EVERY £1.00 SPENT ON GAS. They are all called condensing boilers meaning that they are able to recover a lot more heat efficiently via much bigger heat exchangers resulting in an increase amount of hot gasses that before in your older boiler would have been lost and escaped through the flue but now are captured and used back into your heating system.

What is ErP
ErP stands for Energy Rated Products. The EU back on the 21st October 2009 decided to approve a new system for setting the efficiency standards for energy rated products and named it the ErP directive. Products that have an indirect influence on energy or use energy in any way such as bulbs, tyres, and even showerheads all fall under this directive.
The aim of ErP is for older poorer performing products are slowly phased out so thus reducing the carbon emissions across the country.
In September 2015 it came into force that all residential and commercial heating products must fall under these performance requirements such as boilers and water heaters, electrical power products along with renewable technologies like heat pumps or solar paneling.
The ErP has two Completely Separate Directives:
- Eco design – Affecting only the energy related product manufacturers.
- Energy Labeling – Affecting both manufactures and installers.
The Eco Design directive safeguards energy related products meeting performance emission regulation standards from the build stage at manufacture. If it fails it will not be issued with a CE mark meaning it cannot be sold legally in the UK or across Europe.
The Energy Labeling directive safeguards that all heaters and boilers installed after the 26th September 2015 are given an efficiency rating starting from G to A+++ that requires being easily visible on the product item.
